Papillons are small, friendly dogs with a confident disposition. This breed’s name is French for “butterfly,” and refers to their large, wing-shaped ears. Papillons are more hardy than their small size suggests, as extremely adaptable little dogs.
8-11 inches
5-10 pounds
This breed sheds regularly, which can be improved with regular brushing.
The Papillon’s long, silky coat is surprisingly low maintenance. Grooming every month or so is necessary, with a few thorough brushings between grooming appointments. Their teeth should be brushed regularly and their nails, which grow quickly, need to be trimmed regularly.
Papillons have moderate energy levels and benefit from a good game of chase. They are active, smart, and like their people to play with them.
